We are located in the Reynoldstown neighborhood of Atlanta. All students and visitors are required to provide and wear their own well fitting masks upon entering the building. This policy is effective through February 2024 and possibly beyond. Requests for no masks will be considered on a case by case basis. Please indicate if you have a medical need for wearing or not wearing a mask on the intake form when registering.

Schedule A Pottery Lesson

I offer one-on-one, partner (2 people), Date Night!, and small private group lessons out of my pottery studio in the Reynoldstown neighborhood of Atlanta.

Please scroll to the bottom of the page, select your package, select date and time, and follow the prompts to checkout. A non-refundable deposit is required for all lessons.

Date Night includes the following:

  • Up to two hours of instruction for throwing on the wheel - we will cover clay prep, centering, and will end up with a small bowl

  • Materials - Up to 2 lb. of clay, all required tools, assortment of glaze colors to choose from

  • Work collaboratively with your partner to create a single piece of pottery on the wheel

  • Instead of coming back to finish your bowl, we will discuss carving and glaze options. I will trim/carve and glaze your bowl for you. You will be notified when your piece is finished and ready to be picked up.

  • In addition to learning a little bit about pottery, you will likely learn a little bit about your partner and leave with a fun memory!

Quick Lesson:

  • A Single 30 minute session

  • Take a crash course focused on centering, opening up, and pulling up the clay

  • Does not include finishing or firing processes. These can be added for an additional fee (Instead of coming back to finish your bowl, we will discuss carving and glaze options. I will trim/carve and glaze your bowl for you. You will be notified when your piece is finished and ready to be picked up.)

  • Materials - Approximately 1 lb. clay, all required tools

  • Partnered quick lesson also available

One-on-one beginner package includes three sessions:

Partner (2 people) beginner package includes three sessions:

  • Session One: Two hours of instruction for throwing on the wheel - we will cover clay prep, centering, and will (hopefully) end up with a small bowl!

  • Session Two: 1-3 days later, up to two hours of instruction of trimming on the wheel

  • Session Three: A basic 30 minute glaze session after your pieces have been bisque fired

  • Materials - Approximately 1 lb. of clay (each), all required tools, glazes on glaze day provided

  • 4, 6, and 8 week packages available (see below for details)

  • Fully Booked through April 2023

NEW 5 Day single week beginner pottery wheel intensive

  • This 5 day course bridges the gap between the 4 week and 6 week courses and is condensed down into a single week. Email Katie.troisi@gmail.com to schedule

  • 5 consecutive days of throwing and trimming on the wheel

    • Day 1: Throw a pot

    • Day 2: Trim pot from day 1, Throw a bowl

    • Day 3: Trim bowl from day 2, Throw a cylinder

    • Day 4: Trim cylinder from day 3, Throw a plate

    • Day 5: Trim plate from day 4, Make-it-til-you-break-it project

    • Day 6: return at a later date to glaze your completed wheel projects

  • Materials - Approximately 1 lb. of clay per item, all required tools, glazes on glaze day provided

6 Week One-on-one beginner package includes 7 sessions:

  • Sessions 1-6: up to 2 hours of instruction for throwing and trimming on the wheel- we will cover clay prep, centering, and will the complete throwing process. Trimming the previous weeks project is also included.

    • Week 1: Intro session, bowl demo and make what you can

    • Week 2: Bowls

    • Week 3: Cylinders

    • Week 4: Plates

    • Week 5: Bud Vases

    • Week 6: Make-it-til-you-break-it (No trimming)

  • Session 7: A basic 60-minute glaze session after your pieces have been bisque fired

  • Materials - Approximately 1-2 lb. of clay per item, all required tools, glazes on glaze day provided

  • Offered over six consecutive weeks, excluding October, November, and December

  • PLEASE NOTE - moving forward, all multi-week packages will combine trimming and throwing into one day a week. 6 week courses will remain 6 week courses, with week 1 lasting 60 minutes and weeks 2-6 lasting 120 minutes once a week.

  • May be offered as a condensed version over 4 weeks. Sessions will last up to 3 hours and will include all of the same projects.

8 Week One-on-one beginner package includes 9 sessions:

  • Sessions 1-8: up to 2 hours of instruction for throwing and trimming on the wheel - we will cover clay prep, centering, and will the complete throwing process. Trimming the previous weeks project is also included.

    • Week 1: Intro session, bowl demo and make what you can

    • Week 2: Bowls

    • Week 3: Cylinders

    • Week 4: Plates

    • Week 5: Cylinders again

    • Week 6: Bud Vases

    • Week 7: Free Throw

    • Week 8: Make-it-til-you-break-it (No trimming)

  • Session 9: A basic 90-minute glaze session after your pieces have been bisque fired

  • Materials - Approximately 1-2 lb. of clay per item, all required tools, glazes on glaze day provided

  • Offered over eight consecutive weeks, excluding October, November, and December

4 Week Hand Building Sampler package includes five sessions:

  • Week 1: Coil Bowls, please bring a bowl from home to use as a mold

  • Week 2: Pinch Pots and Cups

  • Week 3: Textured Slab Coasters, please bring any items you'd like to experiment with (lace is popular as well as other highly textured fabrics)

  • Week 4: Slab Plates, these may be textured or smooth, please bring an item to use as a mold

  • Session Five: A basic 90-minute glaze session after your pieces have been bisque fired

  • Materials - enough clay per item, all required tools, glazes on glaze day provided

  • Offered over four consecutive weeks each month, excluding November and December

  • 90 minute sessions
