When I read the recipe for this White Wine Margarita recipe in the 200 Easy Mexican Recipes Cookbook, I was intrigued and also a bit nervous. I had never made a margarita with wine before this, and I was worried that it would not turn out great and I would ruin a perfectly great wine.
Thankfully, my fears and worry were for nothing. This Wine Margarita Recipe is fantastic!!! Oh, my, this drink is so lovely and refreshing! John tried this margarita and told me he would be happy if I added it to our summer co*cktail rotation.
This recipe is perfect if you have a chardonnay that you need to use or you are looking for a cool, refreshing summer drink. The combination of limeade and orange juice gives this drink a fantastic sweet taste. The salted rim balances out the sweetness for the perfect margarita flavor.

How to Make a White Wine Margarita
I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.
- Blend wine, limeade, and orange juice until well combined.
- Slowly add in ice and blend to a slushy consistency.
- Rub the margarita glass with lime and dust with salt.
- Fill each glass and garnish with orange and lime slices.
Preparation and Storage
Make Ahead + Storage: Did you know you can make margaritas up to three days beforehand? Store them in an airtight container in the fridge to keep the mixture fresh.
Freezing/How to Freeze: Like our make-ahead-friendly Strawberry Margaritas, the alcohol in margaritas keeps them slushie-like without freezing them solid.
Enjoy your frozen White Wine Margaritas within two weeks, and always freeze them in an airtight, freezer-safe container. You can even stock them in single-serve containers; who doesn’t love pulling out a fresh margarita whenever they want?
Guests will love having a great drink and you will love knowing you are always prepared for drop in summer guests.
Recipe Variations + Tips for the Best White Wine Margarita
